Compulsory Miseducation is the second of a three part video trilogy. Compulsory Miseducation is presented in three parts due to YouTube's ten minute limit on video length. This is the first part. The title is taken from a book by one of America's premier social critics, Paul Goodman. The other two videos in the trilogy are entitled Teacher Torture and Sports Authority. You may read the texts of Compulsory Miseducation and Sports Authority high on the home page of the RadioHogan.com website.

  • I have seen many of your videos now, and from the perspective of a professional who has worked in both formal and informal and community education in London, UK. I feel that all your posts offer a critical, yet solid insight into education, community learning and development. I am about to enrol to complete a Masters Degree in Informal and Community Education and I often look to your narrowcasts as a point for inspiration and resource. Nice smile from 3:53 by the way ;-) Merry Christmas.

  • one thing I can see here for sure - this person understands NOTHING about the ways schools work or education in general....

  • You focused on one thing - teacher salaries. I don't think I commented on teacher salaries. If I did, it was not the point being made in the videos. You may have missed the point.

  • Yes, why would I be commenting on them otherwise?

  • Did you view any of the 3 videos?

  • They're the videos I'm commenting on

  • Did you watch any of the thrre videos entitled: "Compulsory Miseducation Parts I,II & II?" If so, do you have any comments regarding these videos?

  • Neither. I'm simply a guy who thinks its wise for society to invest in educating its next generation, which requires a wage package which is comparable with industry for graduates of a particular discipline (otherwise we're just scraping the bottom of the barrel and can only expect a poor education system).

Why shouldn't children have access to a team of well qualified teachers to aid their education?

  • Are you a teacher or union official?

  • decisions children choose to learn and the teachers there play a key role in assisting and providing direction for their education.

The education and development of our children isn't an area where we should cut-costs at the expense of a vital service.
