@hnksnw - I was penpals with George, when I was in university. I still have his letters.
Not only was he brilliant with this "kid" character, but he was a trumpet virtuoso. He was also the one member of the Slickers, other than Spike, who was so essential that he could never miss a show. Even when George's father died, he couldn't get the time off to go to the funeral.

Your clue is the number at the bottom of the label. It begins with "E0-" which means it was recorded in 1950. ("E1-" is 1951, etc, through "E4-" for 1954.)
