The Student Leadership Training Program

The Student Leadership Training Program is an overnight summer camp-style program where secondary school students can find out about themselves by learning leadership lessons and skills; and meeting and working with other young people in a very fun, safe, and respectful environment. We have been teaching young people about student leadership and citizenship for twenty years, and over 6000 students have graduated from our program since inception.

Our independent program is operated entirely by trained high school, college, and adult volunteers, and is held on the lovely campus of Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts.

SLTP has served students from nearly all US states and other countries as well, though we typically serve students from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut due to geography. However, we welcome any student who wants to learn how to make a difference for their school and community, and encourage those who live farther away to travel to our program.

In July 2009, SLTP will be operating four separate five-day, four-night Leadership Training Center (LTC) sessions (see our web site for the dates for each week). Students will arrive for the program on Tuesday of their selected week and stay over in a college dorm until the program ends on Saturday.

The cost of LTC is $380 per week, which includes all food, room, and material costs. Other leadership programs cost thousands of dollars. We are able to offer such a low price because of aggressive fund raising and because SLTP is a nonprofit group operated entirely by trained and motivated volunteers; we have no paid staff and all money collected is used to support the program.
