  • In my high school, we have only one stage manager, me.

  • i could be wrong but im sure actually testing the lights is not the SM job...... i mean id say its his job to make sure the lighting crew have tested them but surely the SM does nt have the time? and what about sound and props? this may be the case in his theatre but i dowt its like this in most (although at college i often do the sm lighting sound and even sometimes perform simultaneously. im pretie sure this is not the norm)

  • @13loveloveloveDisney Same as that I was lucky eniugh to be assighned it we dont have 6 people doing it just me

  • This is not the real world.

  • Yup, in my view, that SM is in one wing, ASM in another, and the PSM calling the show....

  • @StarryMessengerSM most shows use two asm's; stage right and stage left. one for the stage crew, and one for the fly system. occasionally there will be another asm to keep track of actors, but more often than not that job is done by the assistant director

  • In the professional theatre of NYC, for instance, there are typically three SM's: the Production Stage Manager, the Stage Manager, and the Assistant Stage Manager. On a very complicated show there may be two or three ASMs.

  • Good video, thanks.

  • Hello there, im a new comer to light directing and was wondering if it always has to be Drama? maybe music?

  • very helpful! Thank you!
