  • With Jaco as the bass player at her side! What a luxus! Comes right 'long the way as a big black beautiful limousine with a fuckin' whole lotta horses under the hood. Jaco must be the boogy man …

  • wish she'd gotten a Motown girl group to sing "God must be a boogie man" at 2: 34 - sounds like the rest of band is singing there - amusingly casual, but a little out of tone with the rest - still, that's a faint criticism for a lovely song

  • If Lloyd blankfein’s doing “God’s work”

‘God Must Be A Boogie Man’

  • I shit my paints the first time I heard this song.

My god, what tone Jaco has. Wonderful.

  • Awesome Jaco.... awesome Joni, as always. "Which would it be, Mingus 1 or 2 or 3... which do you think he'd want the world to see?" Mingus was just about almost god as well.

  • I think this is possibly the best Joni-Jaco collaboration. (Of which there are many.) I love this so much because it's just the 2 of them and it's so sparse...you can really hear what they're doing and how well the play off each other. So tight, despite the fact that there are no drums. Love the rests. Love Joni's eccentric tuning, the close voicings, her RIGHT hand, Jaco's harmonics and distortion, light and heavy, delicate and strident. This KILLS! ....and the lyrics! God IS a boogie man!

  • Joni mitchell is a muse.Jaco pastorius was the best. So many have come sience then..Such great music! ...But THIS! This is is the shit!...Thank you Joni!

  • I Thank you for all your videos soundquality. Perfect.

  • id often wondered if the girls overproduced this type of music

  • You have to get the album of "Shadows and Light" for a fantastic live version of this. Joni and Jaco still play spiky dynamics but with some beautiful loping percussion from Don Arias it swings HARD. It's not on the "Shadows and Light" DVD and nowhere on YouTube. Its MP3 download is the most fun you can have for a dollar.
