  • Donald Graves was amazing. Read/study his book "A Fresh Look at Writing". It changed the way I taught writing.

  • Donald Graves was amazing and inspiring. He will be so missed.

  • Is Mr. Grave's method used to enhance student's writing and/or to build student's confidence in writing?

  • Shouldn't the kids have some guidance, at least a genre, a topic, or even a prompt?

  • What else can a teacher do provide an atmosphere in which all students feel safe enough to share their writing? Also, what can a teacher do to make sure the students don't just group together with friends who may not provide helpful critiques?

  • When the teacher sits down to write that first day, is he displaying his writing as he writes? Is he also voicing his thought process as he works?

  • Donald Graves makes it plan and simple. Listen all you writing teachers.
