i've never heard someone using such a level of technique and at the same time playing with such musicality and groove ... Eric Harland is one of the few great drummers of our time

There is no hard + fast musicological standard that decrees the innovator by definition is superior to the offspring and/or descendent.

My favorate drummer. If you want to have your nuts snatched out of your musical jockstrap Listen to Eric on Kurt Rosenwinkels "Chords" on the Live Remedy album. In addition to being a world class, wonderful musician, Eric is also bonafide beast.

@Easleytee No offense, but Roach was a revolutionary. He helped create the modern art of drumming. While Eric is a phenomenal musician, it is incredibly ignorant to say that Harland is "superior" to Roach, because without the innovators like Roach there would be no Eric Harlands.

Harland is a superior to Roach in every respect. His overall musicianship, concept and percussive vocabulary is richer and exceedingly more imaginative.

He is so sick on baptiste trotignon album he contributes a lot to the album and really compliments baptiste's playing and is righteously groovy and comes out with some heavy grooves! And this is displaying that right here!
