  • 1976 must have been one of the last few years when a picture of a factory (especially a refinery) meant "progress" and "development", not "pollution."

By the mid 80s, you just couldn't do that. You had to show vast expanses of wilderness when you talked about Ford.

The outsourcing happened because people allowed it to happen, because people believed it would be better for them that way.

One hundred million people, the most affluent in the world. Hamilton, Detroit, Sarnia, Buffalo...

  • I miss the days when we had thriving manufacturing industries, with many decent, well-paying, secure jobs. Then, we went and outsourced everything to the cheapest suppliers, in third-world countries with very low wages and very lax health & safety laws...

  • Where is Algoma Steel?

  • wish i could watch this, very cool

  • @tvlondon I thought I misread it. I don't quite remember that particular sign.

  • love the music lol & also the feel of modern innovation in the intro.

  • i was born in ontario in 1976

  • @tvlondon Kids loved driving by that sign on the 401 on our various trips to Toronto.

  • FAG Bearings Limited...geez
