Uncle Steve has been confused about the species of the fish that he is catching.

The basis of the bluegill identification is the online guides at the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (http://www.ncwildlife.org/Fishing/profiles/) and at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service(http://www.fws.gov/).

Those guides are supported by the beautiful, realistic illustrations created by wildlife artist Duane Raver. Here is an example website that displays a sampling of the his vibrant artistry: http://zipcodezoo.com/photographers/Duane Raver.asp

You can read more about Duane Raver here: http://www.ncwildlife.org/NewsReleases/021309_Wildlife_Artist_Duane_Raver_Rec....

The bluegill illustration in this video is courtesy of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Dan Raver.
