This is the ONLY video on YouTube that shows this song playing on Vinyl!

This song was originally released on a VOLT 155 7" 45, and is very rare. It was written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter, and went largely undetected until it was made famous in 1993 by the Wu-Tang clan, who sampled it for their song C.R.E.A.M.

i kept losing bids on ebay to people shelling out $200+ for it. maybe one day i'll get lucky and own the 7" some day. but for now , this great double LP compilation of rare/great 7" hits that never got picked up on the radar. Currently, this is the only video on YouTube of this song playing on Vinyl!

vinyl was washed in a spin clean record washer and treated with gruv glide. recorded from an Audio Technica AT-LP120usb turntable/Audio Technica AT-440mla cartridge, into the phono input of a Harman/Kardon 330c receiver, and finally into the line in jack of my computer.

  • Great tune. Im a little confused however, if your gonna claim props for playing it off vinyl. Play the original...not a reissue.

  • @katalystbeats sorry, i don't have $200ish for a rare original. i am promoting this great compilation album instead.

  • Did you use any EQ on this video? That's a lot of bass for an innermost track. Sounds great!

  • @vwest1ife thanks. nope, the only thing i did was raise the pitch by +0.0500 in order to clear WMG who was blocking it.

    Evan

  • @gilmour509 i didnt know that raising pitch or things like that make a song clear WMG

  • @youman24 its hit or miss. but in this case it worked with such a tiny amount of change.

  • @katalystbeats i have the original on 45. and man let me tell you.. it really sounds like shit! paid $30 for it on ebay. and it was worn and i tried cleaning it and groove juice played it with shure needles hopeing to regroove it. but no dice. so comps. are the only way to go intead of it being 40 plus years old u can get it 20 years old with plenty more life. thats why crate digging is a great hobby and an art. to find the perfert rare cuts

  • @gilmour509 Nice one for promoting an Andy Smith comp; I've got it on cd (along with most of his other mixes). Great bloke too; spoke to him whilst he djed at a festy a few years back. Saw him dj at his & Keb Darge's night, Lost & Found @Madame JoJo's in Soho too.

Just been playing a bit of Wu and couldn't sign-off for the night without first revisiting the source material once more!

You know it's probably Andy that's been outbidding you, don't you?!
