@valiantfan93 yeah no probs. As a side note 0000 grade wire wool followed by autosol metal polish gives outstanding results on chrome and steel (im a mechanic and ive used it on countless prestige cars chrome parts) just incase your interested. All the best with the mapex snare. To be honest any hard wood snare with well finished bearing edges will sound good with the right heads, over 70% of a drums sound is from the heads

@ianbhtube Nice one for the info man!, Im defo going to be getting one when funds allow. I'm excited to get one because it will be my first Wooden Snare!, I've used my Pearl Steal Chrome Snare for about 3 years now but its starting to become rusty unfortunately. So yeah cheers for that buddy!

@valiantfan93 I bought a vx kit to keep in the practice room last year, the snare sounds great in my opinion (if you like wooden snares) ive got it set up with a coated evans G1 on top and a hazy 300 on the bottom with some Big Dog 20 strand wires and i tune it pretty tight, i love it and it records well, even just with 2 overheads on the kit it really cuts. And ive tried tons of snares. You can buy one and upgrade the heads and wire for less than half the price of a custom drum.

@TornadoPlummer Cheers for that buddy i'll give it a look!, and I know yeah! I brought a VX shell pack recently that obviously didnt come for a snare so i thought id check them out!, Cheers again mate and great cover! :)
Hey man. If you want the Travis Barker sticks, but without the problem of the white paint, why not try picking up some Slverfox JR sticks (or perhaps JX if you don't mind the teardrop bead. They're what I use.). I think they're what you're looking for. The measurements are pretty much the same as the travis sticks, plus they have the round tip.

@valiantfan93 I just replaced the stock head with a Remo Ambassador and tuned it following Professor Sound's drum tuning bible (google it - it's available in pdf to print out) - then cranked it up a tiny bit more. Slapped on a moon gel and Job Done! VX kits are the way to go if you're on a tight budget.
