Hate Comments and Freedom of Speech

Does Freedom of Speech allow people be hateful or should such things be censored? I have a lot of opinions on this issue and only hit the tip of the iceberg in this video.

The freedom of speech is one of the most important 'gaurentees' that we have.

I don't think you should throw in conservatives on the list you made. A lot of them do take their beliefs too far, but I would have to call myself a conservative if I HAD to choose between con/lib. Yet I don't have the least amount of resentment, distaste, etc., for homosexuals, transvestites, gender issues.

Studying 'queer theory' and 'gender theory' has been very rewarding , letting me get at least a glimpse ..

My dad is a conservative and a die-hard Republican, but he accepts me fully and loves my husband, so I understand what you are saying. My videos aren't scripted and while babbling on it's all too easy to generalize, even though I know the world isn't so black and white.

jaybellbooks you seem like such a nice person and i dont think you deserve any of the hate you and you're husband recieve. but i cant help and look at this from a christian point of few. if you have faith please dont think im questioning it. i was a very ignorant person in the past, partly being because im a homophobe. i can tell just by the tone of your voice that you are a genuinly good person.

Reading Foucault himself has also been incredibly interesting. Everything he writes is worth reading really, but his three part 'History of Sexuality' is something that will be more than worth your while to read thoroughly.

But I'm rambling on now, and I just want to tell you this; a book that really opened my eyes to things that I never would have thought about before is 'Queer Theory Gender Theory' by Riki Wilchins. Queer is clearly not being used as a derogatory term here.
