This was the open to the 1996 All-Star Game televised by NBC. The theme in this open is titled "Emotions Run High" composed by Randy Edelman for the Disney movie "The Big Green". This theme was only used for this game, the next 2 years NBC would use Randy Edelman's "Brisco County Jr." theme which has been used for NBC's Olympic telecasts.

  • I just bought "The Big Green" soundtrack from Amazon and it is confirmed that this theme is titled "Emotions Run High". I have edited the video description above.

  • I love that music at the opening

  • I totally agree, this theme was great! The next game they would broadcast was Game 1 of the ALDS between the Yankees and Rangers and I was expecting this theme to stay but they ditched this wonderful theme for what I called the "Alternate Olympic Theme".

  • @jerseyfla I think the alternate olympic opening is amazing and is maybe one of the best sports themes of all time. This was nice but lacking IMO. The alternate olympic opening really brings home the feeling of just how beautiful and majestic the game really is and works very well for baseball or the olympics.

  • I was at this game. It's the night Cal Jrs nose was broken when an all start team mate slipped on aluminum bleachers during the pregame team photo. Don't remember much about the game. I believe NL won

  • Yeah, Fox has had one good World Series theme--the one they used for the last three years until this year when they, for some inexplicable reason, went to the stupid NFL Football theme. But even that decent one doesn't measure up to the real top ones. And as to Fox also, also, it's worth noting that Joe Buck does not make Tim McCarver come across very well it seems. I know a lot of people complain about McCarver in general, but when he was with Al Michaels and Jim Palmer on ABC it was classic

  • @ADEAL416 Oh, I'm VERY familiar with the CBS theme. And yes, it's classic. Man, I wish they, NBC, or ABC could get baseball back. Anyone but FOX!

  • @braves15 This is probably the second best one--it doesn't QUITE show the majesty the same way that the theme used by CBS in the early '90's did. You familiar with that one? If you're a Braves fan and you're old enough, I would think you would be.......

  • @jerseyfla My favorite was the theme that NBC used in 1997.

  • I was proud to say I was there

  • This is how all network baseball themes should sound. It captures the majesty of the game perfectly.

And it was used great in "The Big Green." Love that movie from my childhood...lol.

  • I've been to the Vet once. That's all I needed.

  • Anybody know where I can find NBC's MLB song for 1999 and 2000?
