Wow, this video is getting linked to madly, by architects, no less! Which is mind-boggling because it's such a simple piece of work.

This was done with Google Sketchup Pro, using the PhotoMatch tool.

  • so what your sayng is i could take a photo of my house (for instance) and then make it into 3D??

  • @LeonardoShaz Absolutely. In fact, there is a way to create a full 360 of your house by using multiple photos to stitch together geometry.

  • Dynamite. Great job. Thanks for sharing!

  • @CoffeeStained Thanks, thanks good news for me, and it doesnt seem too complex, thanks for the help.

  • @Zofnok There absolutely is, and in fact, Sketchup is a very popular tool for comic artists. Myself, I print out Sketchup models at the size I want on my page, simply because I like to have a fully done, real-life page of art. However, it is much easier to just save Sketchup models as .jpgs, and inserting them digitally into scanned art. Also, if you get an app to convert .skp to .obj, you can insert the actual model into apps like Manga Studio.

  • @CoffeeStained Hey great video, I was wondering if theres a way to use the buildings made in google sketch up to put in comics, because drawing buildings is complex, so this would make things much easier. Also, would the be a way to integrate them into an animation as well, but only after being rendered from one point of view so it isnt 3d? I know this is a lot, are there videos that help with this?

  • awesome! Everything is clear, but, i want to know desperately how did u make the texture! How did u apply the photo to the model!
