Several people have asked me how i do my face-ups with very little paint. The thing is, i use mostly pencils, and pastel chalks, and touch up with acrylic gloss. This is how i love doing my face-ups. The results are not too shabby.

This tutorial goes through how i complete each step. Forgive my hands being in the way sometimes, but i think it will get you the jest of how i go about my face-ups.

Here is the link to the second Part!!

  • Wow great work thanks for this tutorial, don't mean to be nosy but which prismacolor pencils you're using?

As there's many, premier thick core, premier soft core, verithin, scholar, lightfast, watercolor, which one?

And what about the woodless pastels?

    Thank you very very much!

  • @eausavage I just use a basic, pastel, non-oil, cheap pastel. they do not need to be fancy.

  • @eausavage oops, misread!! My apologies. I just your standard edition prismacolor pencils. Nothing special just the standard kind of Prismacolor pencils. Regular old prismacolor pencils. pretty much the kind that you can get individually at most art supply stores. (most of the 'special' types of prismacolor pencils, only come in packs.

  • I don't see why you haven't gotten more views on this! I really like her face-up so far.

You have for-sure gained a subscriber.

  • @MirandaTheOnlyPanda lol well, my style is not super 'desirable', as it's more comic book style, as compared to anime/manga style. which isn't too 'kosher' within the community, i find. LOL But i just do what i like :)

  • I know nothing about BJD's or face-ups, I was linked here by a friend who wanted to show me. You seem to know what you're talking about, and it's verbally pretty easy to follow on each step, but for future videos I sincerely suggest placing the camera so it either shoots over your shoulder or from a top-down perspective (just fix it with cord or something from a lamp or the ceiling), and make sure that lightning doesn't create too much shadow over your work as you show it. Like this, thanks =)

  • @0humblelulu0 Sorry that i haven't checked this vid to see responses...i'm not being notified when i get responses, so i have to remember to check them all...LOL They are just standard pastels. The same as yours. I hae worn mine down, so i just rub the brush right on them. It works fine. you can always use an exacto knife to gently scratch the surface if you need a heavier pastel layer. :)

  • @sunakonakahara222 do you have a link? That would be awesome...
