"I was angry. Angry at Miley for cheating, angry at Joe for going behind my back with Miley. I stormed out of the house for a walk, that's when I saw her. I didn't know who she was and quite frankly I didn't care. All I knew was that she was walking alone. Her hair bounced with every step she took. The sound of her heels hitting the pavement echoed through the dark, silent night. She was the perfect victim," I said, wiping my sweaty palms on my jeans.
"I followed her, but made sure to keep my distance the entire time and thought all of the things I was about to do to her. Finally when she was right where I wanted her, I ran up to her and dragged her into the alley. I covered her mouth, so she wouldn't be able to scream and startle all the sleeping families nearby. Her slim body slammed into the cold, brick wall,"—I shut my eyes and relived the moment—"I inched her skirt up her thighs as she kicked and squirmed. Her body trembled to my touch. I slid my hand higher and shifted her underwear to the side. Then I positioned myself to enter her. Luckily, her screams were quieted by my hand, her body pinned tightly against the wall, her arms weak from fighting, and her hot tears flowed onto my hand. I tried to make it quick, less gruesome for her, but when I felt her nails dig into my face it sent my anger skyrocketing. I grabbed my pocket knife from my jacket, flipped it open and dug it deep into her stomach. She gasped as I pulled it back out of her, now she was weak. I continued to slam my body harder onto hers until I was done. I pulled away from her, letting her body drop onto the floor and ran off," I opened my eyes to see thirty pair of eyes staring up at me.
"I don't know what ever happened to her. I don't know if she died, if she told the cops what happened, if she moved out of the city—," I was interrupted by the sound of a chair screeching on the linoleum floor.
I looked around the room to see Selena racing to the door. This confused me.
"Excuse me for a second," I told my classmates.
I walked passed them as they snickered and whispered in each others ears.
"Selena?" I said, kneeling down beside her.
"Don't touch me!" she screamed, inching away.
"What's wrong?" I asked, confused and worried.
"Don't touch me," she choked out the words through her cries.
I backed away slowly, looking at her sitting there weak and broken. Her arms were wrapped tightly around her knees as she rocked back and forth in her spot. She then stood up, lifting her shirt past her navel. My heart began palpating fast, tears filled my eyes, my breathing shortened. I shut my eyes tightly, sending tears down my cheeks. There on her stomach was a scar. I stood up slowly, telling myself that couldn't of been her. Not her.
"It was you," she cried.
"I'm so sorry," I leaned in to hug her.
"Don't touch me, Nicolas!" she screamed.
By now the hall was flooding with people, all staring at us as if it was some kind of soap opera. Her eyes caught vision of them and she back away, pushing and shoving past the onlookers. I stood there, motionless for a second, then ran off opposite way.
I knew people were going to talk. I knew people were going to judge. I told my story to a classroom full of critics and one extremely innocent victim.
I stormed into my dorm, slamming the door behind me. Why her? Why did it have to be her?
I sat on the bed and dug my face into my hands. Everything I had done to try to make her see me as more than a friend went completely down the drain.
