Naked Protest on Wall Street

On the morning of August 3rd, a group of nearly 50 performance artists stripped down naked on Wall Street. The event was dubbed "Ocularpation: Wall Street" by 35-year-old artist Zefrey Throwell and was intended to make a commentary on the lack of transparency in our corrupt financial institutions.

Apparently, the NYPD didn't get the social metaphor and arrested three of the performers. The rest of the crowd put their clothes back on and avoided arrest. Of his art project, Throwell said it was: "Drawing on the common fear of appearing in public naked, and that he hoped to create "an absurdist Freudian nightmare" of nude employment: "Wall Street, exposed," as he put it.

Throwell was inspired to stage the daring protest after his mother lost her entire life savings during the 2008 crash and has since had to come out of retirement to survive.

Let's not throw the baby away with the bath water folks. Wall Street is the largest jobs provider. The mechanism of the Street is not bad, it's the criminals in charge of it who are the problem. Crony capitalism is long over due for a correction. Free market capitalism needs to be modus operandi, not a tiny and infested and inbred click of strange individuals who lay claim on the USA and the world. It will be corrected. The sooner the better.
