cool, think i am gonna visit this one when i come to nyc soon, but trust me, the absolute biggest crate diggin vinyl store in the world is located in the netherlands, in leiden to be exact, where they have 250,000 records for sale at EUR 2 each, i drop by every 2 months or so over there and so many gems i find when you're into 70s/80s rock...

@squezey1 Sometimes a store owner will go to an estate sale and there are 3 rooms of an old house full of LPs. He'll make an offer for one room of records, and load up a truck. If it's 20,000 LPs, he might only find 100 really valuable ones, and the rest get put into $1 bins. Over the next 2 years those left-over LPs will provide a steady trickle of $20 to $50 a day. Hey, it pays the electric bill for the place...

@SecOfunk What does "Been dug" mean if the day after you wrote that, they added 10 more crates? Most crate caves I've been to are always acquiring more crates. As well, they also weed out the crap every 6 months or so to make room for in-coming LPs. I went to a big yard sale last week. As I got out of my car I saw a few vinyl collectors on their way out. One said to me "Don't bother, it's been dug already. I dug, found 9 rare jazz LPs that I sold for $20 to $75 each. It's been dug?

How did that many records get in one place. I know it's a shop but holy shit you wouldn't be able to even go through it all in one day if you were looking for a few specific records.
