Jason Silva talks about this first-of-its-kind event. Transcendent Man Live will be a powerful discussion about the possibility of immortality becoming reality by 2045 as well as other implications of accelerating technologies. The evening will begin with a brief presentation by inventor and futurist, Ray Kurzweil, followed by a provocative panel discussion, which will incorporate clips from the critically acclaimed documentary TRANSCENDENT MAN.

  • @GoLoucho Unfortunately I have not read it. It would be interesting to see how a AI or something like that would percieve itself, especially in relation to us. I understand your point of view and your wish to stay as you are now. I suppose it comes down to the different ways we think about ourselves and everything else. :)

  • @lololololol47 Let's put this way: for me any kind of "brain replacement" makes us less human and more "cyborg". Where's the limit when you are no longer human? Don't know...just I don't want to go that way. I prefer not to "replace" any part of my brain...I choose to be mortal...I think this is a personal and respectable decision...as is yours. Did you read Isaac Asimov's "The Bicentennial Man"? That's the other way around...an immortal machine that wants to be mortal.....wants to be human.

  • @GoLoucho

Why do you assume that we would loose our "humanity" Ray kurzweil himself issued a scenerio whereby you replace one percent of your brain with technology. it slowly increases for twenty years until your brain is completely replaced. At which point would you stop being human? 10 %, 25% 90 %, you yourself are oversimplifying the many question of transhumanity by just assuming we are the best version of humanity as we are now.

  • The singularity as stated in Transcendent Man is an enhanced version of Asimov's "The last question" story. Is it possible? Unlikely, too many things are dangerously simplified and taken for granted. Like for example do we choose as Humans to have that future? Loose our identity and live inside machines? Is that still being alive? Is like living forever stoned, do you want that? I do believe that we can dream our future....so please.....let's dream another (more human) future!!!

  • It's oddly fitting that he espouses the "future" credo, succinctly put as "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" while proselytizing in front of a depiction of Alestair Crowley. And "no" Mr. Silva, transcending humanity in order to make it more human doesn't make an iota of sense. To change the nature of a thing is to destroy it. I for one, am not "buzzing with electricity" over the prospect of destroying humanity on the whims of stoners and acid afficionados.

  • Scientologist...I used to like science..It's becomming creepy...Guess I watched 1 too many illuminati movies like "Terminator,Aliens, And Preditors 1 2 3, The Thing, and The one you could see the aliens through those special glasses...Lol!

  • do you have a pretty wife bacause we have the same name cuz mine is jason silva

and i dont no wat he is saying

  • "immortality by 2045" really people?

  • Intellectualism has lost it's popularity. Hopefully this will catch on. Great words, although "falling on deaf ears" comes to mind.

  • @apostle321 I loved that film. Did you read the book?
