Former Arizona Wildcat Harvey Mason was approached by CBS to produce a remake of the classic "One Shining Moment" by Luther Vandross to debut after the finish of the 2010 NCAA Basketball National Championship game. Mason accepted and teamed up with Jennifer Hudson. But Mason has an impressive resume in show business having worked with Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, and LeBron James for the film of his life.

While at Arizona, his team made it to the final four his freshman year.

  • The really sad thing for Harvey Mason is his no-point performance in the 1988 Final Four will look better on a resume than ruining One Shining Moment in 2010.

  • Where will it rank? It'll be something he'll hope nobody ever knows he was involved in. Hope you're happy, Harvey, you ruined the classic.

  • @kpdc26 chinga tu madre! jennifer hudson es hermosa y canta con el alma pendejo vete a la verga perro mal nacido hijo de puta, jennifer hudson es lo mejor que tu cerdo pais a visto nacer pendejo

  • They jacked that song up. Jennifer is an awful singer. She just yells all the time. I'm glad CBS came to their senses and got rid of this horrific version.

  • Hey Harvey, have you ever seen one shining moment? Did you realize we don't want to see the singer, we want to see the ballplayers?

  • I love Luther..but it's really not that serious especially if your team loses who really cares about the one shining moment on how the winner got there. I'm sure Jennifer don't think much about it. She's a strong woman who's over come more things than having her song ditched by a college basketball program. Plus she already got them papers from CBS...Cha-Ching!

  • The new version is terrible! CBS found a way to ruin the ending montage for the Final Four.

  • Why, all the hate for. This was CBS desision to have a new verision, so be mad at them. I know alot of people are not liking change, but sometimes this can be a good change. I wish you can quit dising things and remember the 10 laws given to us over 3500 years ago. Thou shall not Hate.

  • Bad Move Harvey and you have a ear for music I would have at least got Jamie Foxx or a Country Male Singer It belongs for a man to sing it sorry. Im sorry I didnt cry when this came out I was too busy plugging my ears

  • My problem with her video is that it should be all about the basketball. This is the first time I've ever seen the singer portrayed in the video---IT'S NOT ABOUT THE PERFORMER!!!! I guess this is a sign of the new generation--everybody has to get their own first.

  • HE made this classic better! get over it. I think she screams too much, however she did good this time. GOOOOO Harvey hats off to you.

  • I just heard the original version of this and I think the new version is not that different. I also like Jennifer Hudson voice for this song. As good as Luther was, he did not do justice to the middle portion of the song and Jennifer had the range to make it more than it really is. you guys are just old and pre-historic open your minds to change. I like the new version better.

  • WHERE THE HELL IS JENNIFER

  • hey mason, vandross' version is better

  • wow te amo jennifer hudson

  • Mason scored big fat ZEROS in 1988 and 2010 . Crap, Crap, Crap!!! I can't agree more. How could CBS disrespect a classic like Vandross's One shining moment and replace it with that cheezy garbage Hudson spewed out. I always look forward to Luther's version . Please bring it back. It ruined it for me and I'm sure many others. WTF! Why did they show so many cameos of her singing. This is song is about tradition and the kids who play this tournament every year. Not promoting this anita faker!!

  • GARBAGE. PURE GARBAGE.

  • @NightHawk11and81 Truer words were never spoken, for both your comments. You are so very correct, sir.

  • @marellamofo why dont you care about america. you voted a presient cuase of his skin color. how about this john macain 2010 you half honkey al donkey

  • worst version of One Shining Moment to date. Jennifer sounds awful singing and why are we cutting to her singing and not seeing plays from an amazing tournament?

  • @NightHawk11and81

NOPE!! in 2012, Obama will be your leader once again. He is the Teflon Don. Unstoppable. Obama is to the world, like Neo was to the Matrix. Obama 2012 is Sweet!! Harvey Mason Jr is the same in the music business. Unstoppbable. Let's keep this on topic. I know it's hard for me to do this when my Massiah, Obama is brought into any discussion.

  • @marellamofo 2012, as in when Obama will leave Washington? Yeah, I'm looking forward to 2012 too.

  • @marellamofo No, I'm not and never wanted to be. I just know what sucks when I hear it. It's good to take chances on some things, but this is not one of them. The song is supposed to be sung low, with the singer not calling attention to him or herself and letting the highlight clips stand out. That's why David Barrett and Teddy Pendergrass were so good at it, they understood they were the background. Jennifer Hudson did not, which is why she was a disaster.

  • @fired63

Yeah!!! The Browning of America!!! America is returning to her TRUE COLORED ROOTS. It's about freaking time. YEAH!!!!! OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA. OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA....2012 2012 2012 2012

  • @NightHawk11and81

Are you in the music business? I detected a little creative jealousy. If you are what music have you produced? I wouldn't say that Mason is a complete failure, he is a well known music hit maker with an impressive track record. One would say that it's good to take chances, and that's what he did with OSM. How many great producers have ruined classics? I have a long list of names.

  • @fired63 Look, we know Jennifer Hudson was terrible, but that comment's just uncalled for. Don't criticize anyone for their race, ever. That's just awful. Blacks are no better and no worse than whites.

Now, if you want to criticize her singing ability, by all means, go ahead.

  • @marellamofo No, I'm not jealous at all of Harvey Mason. It'd be very, very hard for me to embarrass my profession the way Harvey Mason did with this song. He took a classic and turned it into a disaster. Why would I be jealous of complete failure?
