The troubadour sequences from the final episode of Season 6 of Gilmore Girls edited together, featuring Joe Pernice, Sparks, Dave 'Gruber' Allen, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, Grant Lee Phillips, Daniel Palladino, Dave Rygalski, Brian Zydiak, Eric Gorfain, and Sam Phillips. For the background on how these musicians came to be on the show, Google the show and episode title. I sense that Amy Sherman-Palladino was thrilled to do this show and these edited clips really bring out the humor behind the troubadour storyline. Enjoy!

The background information for the music on the series and that particular episode came from Ada Tseng who interviewed Helen Pai for an Asia Pacific Arts article in August, 2006 called “Ode to Gilmore Girls: Behind the Musicality of TV’s Beloved Show.” The article was reprinted in May, 2008 on the Gilmore Memories website. It’s a great article with lots of interesting musical info. Additional information was found on IMDB and in The Gilmore Girls Companion by A. S. Berman.

  • Dave Rygalski is actually the name of Helen Pai’s (a co-producer of Gilmore Girls and the inspiration for the Lane character) real-life husband, a comedy writer who currently works on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The real-life Rygalski, also a musician, played the bass for Brian’s character on the show. In the night scene that starts out with Sonic Youth, there’s Dan Palladino singing, Dave Rygalski is on stand-up bass, and on guitar is the guy who plays Sebastian Bach’s guitar off-camera.

  • @iseriouslyeatshit 1) there is a black reoccurring character: Michel. 2) why should there HAVE TO be a black person living in that town of less than 2000 people? in CONNECTICUT no less? forced tokenism is counterproductive.
