Like NeverTheSame says it comes with latest versions of software (Pidgin for example has had some improvements with the Myspace plugin). If Fiesty works for you now, keep rock'n it. I like bleeding edge personally. Cheers.

8.04 is an LTS release, meaning it will receive updates for much longer than most releases.

It's a more stable release. It comes with a fully functional Compiz Fusion out of the box.
Once you install all the proper codecs, Sound Juicer rips mp3s without any additional work.
Firefox 3beta4 comes installed by default, but don't let it fool you. Even though it's in beta, it's already more stable than any previous release.
Aside from that, all the software in the repository is 100% up to date with the latest versions.
