113 delegates from 22 countries representing peasants, small farmers, agricultural workers, women, indigenous peoples, fisherfolk organisations, and health, environmental and consumers CSOs met for the Conference on Confronting the Food Crisis and Climate Change organised by Pesticide Action Network Asia and the Pacific (PAN AP) from 27-29 September, 2009 in Penang, Malaysia. The conference culminated with a Unity Statement declaring their commitment to claim people's right to food, to work together in regenerating nature and society, as well as, to further strengthen and consolidate the movements in advancing food sovereignty, gender justice and climate justice.
