On the 8th August 2010, Bundoran Town Council Vice Chairman Cllr. Philip McGlynn unveiled the memorial seat and mass was said for the 30th Anniversary remembrance of the dead and injured of the Central Hotel Fire.

The Central Hotel was originally a Victorian building and was rebuilt in 1932. It was situated on the Main Street, where the Grand Central Hotel is now.
The Central Hotel Fire happened in the early hours of the 8th August 1980,
10 people died; 5 children and 5 adults.

Cause of death:
8 died due to smoke inhalation,
baby Nicola Lamont was never found and Sadie Dowdican burned in fire.
