Beautiful playing! Jim obviously love's all things Tele!

@senggedorje Thanks for the response. I agree with tomcat33 up there in that, "some of his gear choices are idiosyncratic and totally relevant to the sound he pulls." I mean, obviously Campilongo could play anything you give to him, but he knows the tele inside and out (literally). Those volume and tone swells, the top-loaded bridge that lets him bend like Donahue, the tele's headstock that facilitates his behind-the-nut bends, and placement of all of it is so uber crucial to his tone. Much love

@srvgravesdime I have read him state in interviews that while he has his own preferences for equipment, he would rather focus on music and musicianship than on the gear. Of course when he's at a Fender event he's there to talk Fender, and, as you stated, I don't know him personally. But I've watched just about everything on youtube, read interviews, and own a fair amount of his music. Perhaps I shouldn't have used the verb "pays" above, but instead might have said "prefers to emphasize," etc.

@senggedorje No he doesn't. He's always talking about his gear. He loves teles and princetons, and he never stops talking about them. If you don't know that, then you don't know Campilongo.

I agree with your sentiment. Even Campilongo himself pays little attention to gear itself. Too many people are fixated on modded "handwired" "tonemonster" pedals/guitars/amps who simply can't play a song.
-
"Top loading bridge/pickups": absolutely NOTHING to do with what's being produced by those talented & well practiced ~fingers & mind~. Keep listening & practicing....

Inspiration on a tele-style, yet again. Is there a toploading bridge on this one? What kind of pickups does it have on it?

An original artist.

Sorry fellas, but perhaps you should look at who put up this vid ... I'm totally in awe of Jim's playing but if you know anything at all about his work then you'll also know that some of his gear choices are idiosyncratic and totally relevant to the sound he pulls. I agree he'd probably also do lovely things with a Marshall amp and an SG but that's just not the point.
