This Video will show you how to Defragment one or more of your hard drives on both windows XP and on windows Vista

reasons for Defragmenting your HD:
1) Defragmentation can result in a 200% performance gain on a single computer
2) In some, rare, cases it increases Hard Drive Space.

Other Tips from readers and friends,
1) Disk Defragmenting can take anyware from 5 minutes to a day to compleate so make sure to do this when you do not need your computer for that time, it is good to have another computer or a social life at this point.
2) Defragmenting will slow down your computer to a considerably slow speed so it will be unusable for games

  • buy a mac, macs do it automatically, why should we have to bother with stupid stuff like this?

  • so does Windows now and so does Linux.

  • take my advice dont get a vista it sucks

btw wat kind of operating system is that 98

  • I use to agree but vista is getting better, problem is a lot of business software now is only for vista. the first OS is XP and the second is Vista. I had to turn off my Visual stuff because my computer was old and with Camtasia it was taking a few hours to load the start menu.

  • what type of curser do u have?

  • on Vista i use the cursor that Windows Starts with. On XP i use the 3D cursor that also comes with windows.

  • its gonna take some time on w7 but i got 7.2 in score on my pc :D so its gonna take 45 min ...

  • Well I lost 5GB using the vista defragger... I really wanna know why this is happening

  • ahh

  • could have been something with the FileSystem not reporting the size of space right.

Because Modern Hard Drives are so big they story the free space and other little info in a Journal (on NTFS), sometimes that Journal can get the Wrong Information. the Defragmentation could have fixed it. thing is this problem is Rare. only happens if your computer had a crash or sudden shutoff.
