That first clip demonstrated what the earth would look like of it was hit by a giant asteroid. Amazing Science here.... Amazing.

This, for me, contains the essence of science...it caused a spontaneous moment of intrigue, wonder and, best of all, fun....(grin factor 5). Some things may at first appear complete folly yet, at the very least they can provoke the release of the brains own fun drugs, an' that, as we all know has got to be a truly great and worthwhile thing : ) what's life worth without a smile?

You said a computer simulation compiles more data than any experiment - which is a complete subversion of the scientific process. Create theory (which in most cases is a mathematical model), make predictions (computer simulations generally, for complex models), conduct experiement (gather data), amend theory.
You didn't say the data is pointless, you said the experiment is pointless, which is wrong. Confirmation of a theory/model isn't pointless, btw.
