Nursing Care Technician Training at The College of Office Technology

The Nursing Care Technician Program at the College of Office Technology prepares students for careers as valuable and highly-skilled members of the nursing community. The objective of the Nursing Care Technician Program is to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to secure entry level positions as Nursing Assistants, Orderlies, Nursing Aides, Patient Care Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, EKG/ECG Aides, and Phlebotomists.




In a matter of months -- not years -- COT medical graduates can be out in the work world and serving patients in a rewarding career. Our program gives students the classroom and hands-on training that guides them toward becoming excellent Nursing Care Technicians. COT's program is comprehensive, using modern information, equipment, facilities and teaching instruction -- giving the students the right training for an impressive career as a Nursing Care Technician.

The Nursing Care Technician Program covers a wide range of direct patient care skills. It also covers communication skills, patients' rights, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology. In addition, students will learn to perform venipuncture, monitor EKGs and blood glucose, take vital signs, perform catheter insertion and CPR, and various other skills necessary to care for patients in acute, subacute, and long-term care facilities.
