Chloe's P.O.V

I hugged Joe's body closer to mine trying to easy the weight on Annie. Her deep coughing had been slowly getting worst
"We have to be close" I told her reassuringly but my words were no comfort they had no force behind them I feared the endless darkness as much as she did. I could feel Joe falling on Annie's side and I found her slouched forwards heaving
"Annie" I called franticly as I reached my arm out grabbing her arms making her face me
"Annie looked at me" I told her sternly and her eyes fell on mine lazily
"you're going to get out of here Annie youre going to do it for Kevin you're not going to leave him do you understand" I told her harshly trying to show her the importance of it and she nodded her head in agreement
"Here take this try breathing through it" I explained handing her my jacket and she held it up to her mouth seeming to come more to the more she interacted in the conversation.
"Talk to me" I instructed as we started to move forward once more and she looked at me weirdly
"tell me about that weird job of yours and how it lead you to meeting Kevin" I told her and I saw a small smile spread across her lips as she thought about it
"You've heard it so many times" she breathed deeply a few moments later struggling to talk
"And it's a beautiful story I'd like to hear it again" I pressed and she stumbled forward not having any of it
"you will tell me that story again" I told her determined but she was giving no time to answer as yet another giant rush of air flew past us causing the flames behind us to erupted with new life sending yet another wave of heat towards us.
"It has to be the door" Annie coughed
"We must be close" she exclaimed the breeze seeming to give her new life to as she grabbed Joe tighter pulling us forward.

"Sunlight" I whispered as a light glow slowly became visible through smoke
"The light at the end of the tunnel" Annie murmured beside me and I couldn't help but agree we really were walking towards our own heaven. I had never messed the cold breeze of late autumn so much in my entire life.
Slowly the light grew larger and larger until the shadow of the door frame could be seen. Joe was tossing in our arms slowly coming to with fresh air he was now getting. He started coughing making his body jerk forward making the last part of the escape that much harder
"Not much further" I whispered to him my hand placed around his waist trying to pulled him back up again. Both mine and Annie's breathing became rapid as we got closer the anticipation of what we might see was daunting. I had to squint my eyes as my fingers brushed the metal of the door. Walking through the frame into the sunlight stung your eyes nearly as much as the soot in the air did. As the terrain changed Annie slipped causing the three of us to fall forward slightly stumbling down on the moist grass that now stood underneath our feet.
The moisture of the grass was cool against my skin almost relaxing as it seemed to sooth the pain of my aching muscles.

"Where are they?" Annie's voice was filled with so much fear that it made me sit straight up and turned to face her.
She had her hand held weakly above her eyes shielding them from the light as she scanned the area in search for the others. For the first time I turned away from her and looked out over the surrounding land and I couldn't help but gasp. It was utterly breath taking. We were surrounded by complete forestation this building was completely hidden in this wonderland of trees and mountains it would have been beautiful if the skies hadn't been filled with thick black smoke. The only manmade thing here apart from the building itself was the path that lead away from it just wide enough to fit...a truck
"Do you think they got out?" Annie asked frantically standing up to get a better view
"Of course Annie look the ground it's filled with footprints" I reassured her
"So where are they?" she yelled
"Maybe they went along the path you know to see if any cars might past we should head that way" I stated standing up
"We can't leave what if they come back here?" she panicked
"Annie we can't stay here Joe needs help plus this building isn't going to stay standing for much longer it's not safe here" I argued and she was silent for a moment before helping me lift Joe from the floor starting down yet another path into the unknown.

We had made it to the main road before Annie came to a sudden stop holding her hand up in the air and at once I was silent following her eyes trying to figure out what she had noticed
"Kevin" she whispered and sure enough there in the woodlands beside us was Kevin but he wasn't alone he was being cashed by Eric accomplish.
"Keep following the road Chloe get help" she ordered before slipping her hand from mine running into the woodlands after Kevin. Leaving me there in complete shock. Holding Joe on my side completely alone in the middle of nowhere....
