10 Escape After Northland Home Set On Fire

An 18-year-old man is in custody after authorities said he set his own home on fire.

The fire at Northeast 111th Street and North Nashua Drive in Kansas City, Mo., was reported at about 1:30 a.m.

KMBC's Brenda Washington reported up to 10 people -- in their late teens or early 20s -- were in the house when the fire started. Roomates told Washington that one of their roommates became upset when he found other people hanging out in his bedroom. Cassie Ranking said her boyfriend admitted to accidentally starting the fire in the basement.
