Gran Turismo 4: Mission 13 (4'35.662)

Gran Turismo 4 (USA), PlayStation2, DualShock2, Manual...

Here's my run for Mission 13: 3 Lap Battle @ Opera Paris. I really like how well-balanced the Rally cars are, and their agility makes "Line-Finding" a fun process. The 206 is a nimble little booger, but there were a few times I got a little too anxious with the throttle to properly use it.

I pass the Xsara just after the first checkpoint, and pass the Lancer on the inside of the sharp left hander near the end of Lap 1. The Corolla gets passed just after T1 of Lap 2.

The L-R-L complex there (just after T1) is a great place to pick up time or pass an opponent. They take the first part of it way too hot, and end up with a bad entry angle and speed for the final part of it. If you take a tight line for the first part of it and manage a straight exit, you'll be able to pull away or catch up to the AI opponents, without hitting the wall.

The other great passing point is in the slow S-turns just before the finish line. The AI opponents brake early and you can dive on the inside of them for an easy pass. Just keep your speeds slow, so you don't get penalized. It's also great to use THEIR grip to help you make YOUR turn! :)

I pass the Escort on the inside for the entry of the final Esses, and take 1st from the Focus in the same spot on Laps 2 and 3, respectively. Final MOV was 2.509" on the Focus.

Please tell me, how the fuck, you hit the barrier at the left turn, after you pass the Xsara, than, hit the Lancer, at the last lap, after the U turn, before the big straight you hit the barier again,, and you don't get a fuckin' penalty.... explain to me...
