How to make beautiful silver wire spiral earrings that combine the spiral form with the coil, this video shows how to construct these beautiful earrings in easy to follow, step by step instructions. To create the earrings that you see in this video, I used 18 gauge, nickel silver wire. When I make these earrings in sterling silver, I use .035 sterling silver wire, soft, round. You can also experiment with the many wires available at craft stores. I particularly like to use Black Stove Pipe wire. Black wire gives these earrings a distinctively unique look. The construction of these earrings that combine the spiral with a coil requires the use of three different types of pliers, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, and diagonal cutters.
Each earring is constructed from a six inch length of silver wire, and a coil that consists of twenty loops. To complete the earrings once the basic shapes are finished, I attach them to a pair of pre made ear wires that I purchase at a craft store.

  • Being a beginner, this was a great tutorial....easy to understand. Clear, cut and concise once the specifics were cleared up. I'd like to see a tutorial re: making the earwire shown. I've got the basic one down, but so far that's all I've seen (plenty of videos and varying ways, but the finished product is always basically the same).

    Thank you

  • @artisintheheart99 Thank you for your comments. For all of my earrings, I use pre-made surgical steel ear wires (or precious metals for some designs) which I've found to be the best solution.

  • Great video of the processes; I would point out the spelling (typos) in the titles of several of the procedures. If you can correct those mistakes, the video would be more professional. I can be more specific if you don't see them. Also, is the angle for the wire loop 45 degrees? It looked more like 90 degrees to me. Which is it and which works better?

  • @microfarmstudios Good question. The angle for the loop is actually 45 degrees in order to center the loop over the coil. If I made it 90 degrees, the loop would be too large to easily and attractively center over the coil. An approximate 45 degree bend is the best choice here. Thanks very much for your thoughtful comments.

  • Great tutorial!!! Now I have to keep practicing the spirals... ^_^

  • @krazylia It gets easier and faster with practice! Good luck!
