Set in the backrooms of government and the frontlines of politics, this absorbing drama from the makers of This Life reveals the machinations of a group of researchers, lobbyists, advisors and politicians who turn spin into policy.
At the centre of the action are brothers Scott (Andrew Buchan) and Danny Foster (Matt Smith), sons of a late Labour Member of Parliament. Scott is a former Labour insider who left the party for a lucrative lobbying career but still dips his toe into political waters when needed. Danny is a bright and loyal researcher to junior minister Jo Porter (Raquel Cassidy). Dannys only fault is allowing himself to be distracted by scheming intern Kristy MacKenzie (Andrea Riseborough). On the other side of the political battle lines are Porters nemesis, James Northcote (Patrick Baladi), a Tory shadow minister, and his more than capable advisor Ashika Chandrimani (Shelley Conn). When Danny makes a huge mistake and Ashika decides to break out on her own and run in a by-election, the lives of all the players are changed in unexpected ways.
