A great tune from a great album Party Of One. One of my all time favorite album of his. 11 strong songs without a filler track if you ask me. Released in 1990.

just looked for this song having read about the kings cross fire and did not expect it to be such an upbeat tune given the nature of the lyrics and the tragic story behind them. how sad that it took 17 years for alexander fallon to be identified, at least he was immortalised in song eh?

This is a wonderful song - like many such folk songs, the tempo and upbeat nature of the song makes a wonderful juxtaposition of the story. I couldn't love it more. Underrated. Right up there with the best songs about history and folk music.
