I do not disagree with you on this. A bit of good humored banter at times could definitely liven up a tennis match. Btw please do not get me wrong because I am really fond of Marat Safin as a tennis fan and I certainly do not detest him at all. My point was that his chiselled good looks and charisma did have an effect on how well people receive his tantrums on the court (This is just my opinion of course and you can beg to differ) . That said, that cigar gesture was funny indeed.

Well I'm not female or gay, although I might have to reconsider if Marat Safin wanted a bit of fun.

That aside, the smoking cigar line was one of the funniest things I've heard in sport, and livens up what can sometimes be quite a dry sport. But I respect your right to disapprove should you not like it, no one player is universally liked.

A lot of fans, particularly the female ones condone Safin's outbursts because he is good looking. Its very superficial. If an ugly guy were to exhibit this behaviour, they will label him as a barbarian. Trust me on this.
