Paste Preview is one of the new features of Microsoft Word 2010. It allows you to preview what your copied content would look like if you went ahead and pasted it in - without actually pasting it. If you don't like how it looks you don't have to undo anything; instead, simply move your mouse away. There are three options:
- keep the formatting present in the copied content
- ditch the copied formatting and adopt the formatting present in the target location
- keep only the text (losing formatting and images)
I must admit I was a bit skeptical about this "feature" but I find it handy to preview what the paste would look like with and without the original formatting, simply by hovering over different buttons. Live Preview, eh.

This is one of the clearest live paste preview explanations I have seen to date. I was so impressed with this that I added a link here from one of the tiles on the Office 2010 webmix on Symbaloo.com

This is THE SHIT. As it stands right now I will sometimes paste into Notepad and then into Word so I can lose the formatting of the source document. Now I won't have to take that extra step!

seriously, wouldn't it be easier just to paste and then undo? Ctrl V - Ctrl z? Two steps vs 3 or 4?

Alright, you got me. Nice video!
Like you, I wouldn't have thought a preview for paste would be necessary, but I've been using it myself and you kinda get used to it being there!
