I should add, I grew up in Germany and I was around TWO overweight kids in school growing up. Two, out of hundreds. It's a lot more related to lifestyle than when people start solids. When you're chugging down fast food five times a week and blame the rice cereal your mother gave you when you were 4 months old, you've got a whole different problem.

When I was born, it was normal to start feeding solids to babies at 3+ months. Whoopdeedoo, no allergies here, and in barely any of my friends growing up. Pedis give different advice depending on the pedi you visit - we've gone through 2, both of which recommended 4 months. It's perfectly fine that you waited until 6 months, but why should people listen to YOU, when you're listing off things from sources that you're not even quoting? This is completely biased and rude.

i think everyone who watched this video and has a baby coming up or a newborn should do a little more research instead of waiting for 6 months. you shoudlnt judge how to feed a baby based on just age. dont start a baby on solids exactly on there 4 or 6 month bday, it doenst work like that and there are numerous things that go into starting solids. every baby is different and is ready to start solids at their own pace.some babies are ready at 4 and some 5 and some 6. just depends on the baby

I'm so happy you posted this because I was thinking about starting my son on solids at 4 months but I'm definitely going to wait til 6 months , thank you! :)

I know this is a old video but I just had to tell you that I wish I could post this video every where! I know way to many moms that are starting solids at four months and its sad because they have been misinformed on the info they think is right I just wanted to say this video rocks!

I know this video is old but I had to comment. Not for nothing Jessica, because I really do like you and enjoy your videos, but you were extremely offensive in this video. More so because you say you don't want to judge anybody for the way they choose to parent, yet you came across as just that: judgemental. Not cool.

What the hell! introducing a baby to solids does not lower their immune systems it boosts it. i have been studying Early Childhood development and neonatal development for a long time and that is pure BULL! American Pediatrics Academy(APA) 4 to 6 months

Most Pediatricians in AMERICA will Say 4-7 months or 4-6 introduce solids to open up the babies palate.

Also most pediatricians' recommend rice cereal(*which is a solid*) to be mixed into milk for babies who have reflux at any age including 0 months. She did good with her research and obviously she's a great MOM :) <---GO Jess
**** but according to webmd and mayo clinic and kidshealth, org you can start solids between 4 and 6 months not 6 & 8 that's way too much MILK for them to be consuming at those ages
I don't mean to sound snotty here, but you say that you didn't want to criticize people who do other things, but you basically just said that babies that start solids at 4 months will be fat and sickly.
My son started solids at 4 months by suggestion by my pediatrician, because he was literally making himself sick drinking formula because he was so hungry. He's now 10 months, and is eating finger foods, walking, and starting to talk.
It's not really as simple as deciding 6 months and no sooner.

There is nothing judgmental about this video. it's actually quite factual. I am a registered nurse, and this mother is actually right. Just because someone give you facts that are different than what you've done, doesn't mean that what they are saying is judgmental. Example: If someone came on here and made a video stating the research that shows the health risks of giving your child a can of coke every day, does mean they are judging because some people gave their kids coke and they were ok?
