Inglis: Why can't we get existing 63 MPG cars here?

BMW testified at a Science Committee hearing that they sell a clean diesel MINI Cooper in Europe that gets 63 MPG, but are not selling that car in the US because of California clean air regulations. Congressman Inglis (R-SC-4) asks if an unintended consequence of that law is making the perfect the enemy of the good.

BMW is the Rolex brand of cars that is in front of the learning curve and has been for years in the industry of automobiles. Really? That's crazy!! What?? I'm not really sure what he is saying. I guess i haven't internalized my externals well enough? Why the double speak? Speak English!!! Why use all the turn of phrase when you could just stop for a moment think about your trying to say then communicate? Is this what congress is like?

what he is saying is that we can't have european diesels because californias emission standards are to high for the wrong reason. there is 15% more emission increase but a 30% increase in fuel economy. so the emissions standards are limiting our use of more efficient vehicles. we need to bring european diesel technology to america. INTERNALIZE the EXTERNALS. its a very simple concept.

Internalize the externals?? This is not the only time I have heard this crap flow out of Inglis' mouth. What the hell does that mean? I suspect it means San Francisco is his favorite vacation spot.
