ANNOUNCER CHRONICLES - PART 6

You've been able to see--er, hear--my announcer self bring you Pokémon coverage on as many as 5 previous occasions.

This, the 6th outing, hopes to leave them all in the dust.

No cuts. No commercials. One trainer attempting to climb Gym Leader Castle despite facing down opponents that fill it to full operating capacity. One announcer here to bring you a signature blend of highly informed insight on battle strategies, spontaneous storytelling asides, and a downright silly level of enthusiasm at times...

Two hours.

Taking the form of a sportscast, complete with statistical blurbs popping up at the bottom of the screen from time to time, this outing holds nothing back, whether from the battle floor, the press box, or the statistician's department. How well will it stand up compared to the past--and how long will it endure as a classic into the future?

  • Something I've been wondering. Were there any failed takes for this challenge? Like, did you lose and have to start over any times?

  • No, and thankfully I got the voiceover done on my first take too.

  • great vid m8, i love it when u go crazy hehe

  • What's more, I believe the post where I initially described that battle is my oldest surviving contribution anywhere on the Internet (2001/07/17). Really puts a historical perspective on things.

  • @SadisticMystic Well, can't be helped. At least you got the chance to bring it up as a mention here, right?

  • @SadisticMystic ._. I think that Mewtwo was on steroids.

  • That really happened, back in 2001. Both Explosions left the Mewtwo under 30 HP, and after all three freezes, it was knocked under 30 as well before conveniently thawing out.

Too bad I didn't have a recording setup at that time. My announcer persona would have had a field day with that fight, though back then I was only 15 and the resultant announcing probably would have been crap.

  • @ThePatrickinator Actually, the average for each opponent was 248.24 seconds, or 4 minutes 8.24 seconds. The average for each opposing pokemon was 82.75 seconds, or 1 minute 22.75 seconds. Of course, this doesn't take into account the time between matches, in which the clock was still running.

  • @SadisticMystic Were you exaggerating when you said that? Or did that actually happen somewhere?

  • @ShijrakiCostominso 1) Thunderbolt is not a priority move.

    2) Priority and evasion have no effect on each other.

    3) Evasion strictly affects how likely the opponent is to hit you by reducing the accuracy of the attacking move by a certain percentage for each stage of evasion. It doesn't matter what type the move is, if it's physical or special, or anything like that.
