  • Awesome lesson Athony; as usual.

    Just one thing about the switching of the positions seems not to go over too well in my mind. If the licks in box 4 are identical to the ones in box 2, why do players bother to play it? Isn't it easier to stick with box 2 without moving the entire action down the neck?

  • @regelemihai Different strings, thicker tone in Box 4, plus you've got the option of using the E string in your licks. Personally, I never understood why, given the choice, someone would play Box 2 stuff in Box 4 though.

  • Hey Anthony?? Are you Ok? Is something wrong?? You didnt sound like your normal self, your voice and especially your playing, sloppy and not focussed? If somethings wrong, you can always skip a friday we dont mind your health goes first! Greetz a worried dutch fan on vacay in Turkey!

  • @FreaquedeMusique I probably sound tired because I shot it late at night rather than in the morning like I usually do. Also, Box 4 is my least favorite, and least played position, so not my favorite subject. And don't worry, Free Lesson Friday is a gift, not a promise, so if I don't feel like making a lesson, I won't :-)

  • @gr8bluesgtr

    I'm a beginner as far as this subject is concerned :-P

    But in my mind, when I see those are identical notes, the licks also seem to be identical (with the exception of the ones you can do on the E string that do not correspond to box 2).

    The idea that the tone is thicker in box 4 does make sense, though. I never thought or noticed it before.

  • another thx from me ;)

  • Fantastic lessons!! Thanks

  • this isn't a comment on box 4, but could you do a review on the Ibanez Bottom Booster? I want to use it with my TS-9 but was wondering what it was like.

  • Yep, Johnny Winter did some cool stuff in box 4....makes for some great turnarounds as well. Great lesson!

  • Tired or not it is still a great lesson, and build on what I am learning from my guitar lessons. Thanks

  • Ok, that explains the tiredness in your voice! Happy to hear that! Yeah and box 4 ain't my favorite too (;

    Thanks for all the things you learned me!

  • @opcer his name is anthony just so you know.
