You've missed the point of the song clearly. Its not about pushing a political POV, its about expressing how it would have felt to be part of that generation during that era of history. Its about a young man who is being bombarded with messages that he has to go to war, but doesn't really want to. I think your problem is that you really want to see the song in a certain way to suit your political agenda.
