Roger Waters perfoming Have A Cigar at Rock In Rio 2006.
You can hear, that he is not really singing here, it's a prerecorded backing track.
Unfortunately, the mixer messed it up, so the prerecorded vocals were mixed louder than the live vocals.

Roger Waters use prerecorded vocals in several songs live, but to be fair, he is an old man and it must be hard on your voice to be on tour

  • Rog is obviously not faking anything. Sure, he has a backing vocal track but he's singing right along with it (as he always does) and having a tough time with it. The reason Roy Harper sang this song on the album was because none of the Pink Floyd could sing the song good enough so Roy Harper offered his assistance. If Rog couldn't sing it in 1974 he certainly can't sing it now! Give the guy a break, he's almost 70 for Christ's sake and he is out there touring his heart out!

  • @SatanicTHC That's why he still tried his best. These are his fans and he knew they paid money to see this show so he did what he could. At least he did pussy out like many other artists would have done.

  • He´s not Faking anything... it has always been like that, playing with backing tracks... and not just for the vocals

  • @dreamwad1 dude, Roger were supposed to sing it but had a sore throat after singing Shine on.

  • nothing is prerecorded here. It is the choir-ladies that sings while Roger is trying to sing the song as good as he can...

  • David Kilmister is badass

  • Roger doesn't need me to prove anything, he is now old and although their songs played by various parts of the world, he continues with his shows. He had vitality and used a lot.

  • @turtlliwdnifuoyehthr - Indeed, I have it all :) I'm a huge Floyd junkie... I actually like the "why Pink Floyd" version. It sounds like it did when they played it live. I have a BL of the show with Roy Harper but the quality is a bit lacking...

  • @dreamwad1

actually gilmour was able, he just didnt want to.

PF later performed this song with both waters and gilmour singing but it didnt sound too good.there is also a version on the "why pink floyd" edition of wish you were here, where roger sings and its pretty good.they also once performed that song live with roy harper

  • he isn't faking it he is just struggling because he never sang the song on wish you were here in the first place. and no shit he has back up vocalists, every singer does.

  • that is such a hard bass line

  • Holy crap. This is bizarre.
