Lol , it's funny how strongly you defend your positions.

This video is HILARIOUS. You may not be seeing any immediate signs of damage to your board, but I'm pretty sure everything about this method is going ruin the longevity of your base. Classic dude!!!!

@almostastar2 actually, a perfect wax is for the people who buy their own boards, and care about it more than anything else. not hating on you. anyways, nice vid man. ride on!

This video should be labeled how NOT to wax your stick.

You guys all responding about pulling the bindings off really make me think you are leaving the iron on for TOO long. The whole point to taking off the bindings is supposed to be that the screws will expand, etc. If you are leaving the iron on for the metal to expand that much, you are going to damage the board as well. Metal DOES NOT expand that quickly. I have used heat to expand bearings for throwing bike engines together, a second or two of heat IS NOT going to expand the metal bolts.

take the fucking bindings off!! please

Your voice is such a stereotypical hardcore-snowboarder voice. :D
I love it. :P

dont fill your gouges with wax, clean your board, fill it with ptex, scrape it, wax it, and scrape it again and your good
a buff at the end with scotchbrite is the best too!
"where ya gunna find a sharp plastic scraper?!?!?!?!"
a fucking snowboard store haha
Get a life?!? What are you even talking about?!? I have destroyed 2 boards in the last 2 years with early/late season riding over rocks and sticks! The enemy of the board is not a DIY wax-job! - it is rails, boxes and trees! A perfect wax is for girly-men who just like to look at the boards their mommies give them. A pristine, proper wax job ain't gonna fix what I do to a board. If you are just gonna stare at your board, don't bother to wax at all. Go get yourself a wii and pretend.

Blah, Blah, Blah . . .
Waxing a grinder daily-use board is not brain surgery! If you're on the olympic team or a poser with a trophy board on your wall then spend some of your momma's money and get it done right. For those who ride rails and early/late season trees and rocks, a down and dirty wax job is the least of your worries. Get a life!

do i need to wax a brand new snowboard??

Most new boards need wax. If it is a daily grinder board for early and late season riding that you will take on rails and through the trees, then do it yourself a few times each season in the garage. If this is a trophy board to hang on the wall most of the time or for racing, have it done professionally at a shop. No matter what the eight-dollar-per-hour snowboard shop workers tell you, you wont hurt your board if you don't do a wax perfectly. You do damage when you ride like a maniac!

melting the plastic will fuse the pores in your base together, which will in turn make further waxing useless. plus the excessive heat will de-laminate your board. plastic scrapers are used for a reason and you get them the same place you bought your wax. lastly, your wax is smoking and sizzling, even in canadian winters i dont get even a little smoke.
maybe this is your technique and it works, but i can tell you your not doing it correctly.

Holy Crap! Everyone's got to be a critic! It's not brain surgery!!! It's not a trophy board that sits on the wall either! It's a beater snowboard for someone that actually rides all season! - get a life!
