Boyle Demo - uses bell jar and vac pump. First we take all air out of the bell jar with a vacuum pump. Inside is a balloon with a little air in it. As air is removed from the bell jar, the air in the balloon can expand because there is less and less pressure on the outside of the balloon. When air is allowed to return into the bell jar, the balloon contracts back to its original size. At the beginning of this demo, the original pressure is about 1 atm and the volume of the balloon is about 100 mL. We call these two measurements P1 (original pressure) and V1 (original volume). After all of the air is removed, the new pressure is zero atm, and the new volume is about 2 L. These new measurements are called P2 (the new pressure) and V2 (the new volume. Boyle's Law can be used to calculate and predict these changes. P1V1 = P2V2

  • i feel like boyle's law contributes to the big bang theory in some way but the making of the universe is to complex to know it all but boyle's law could explain how the universe is expanding and if or it will contract and go back to it's original size which i think it will it could be that the universe is round and like a ballon we are inside of it
