The swan song of the Italian Neorealism cinema. Produced by Dino De Laurentiius (1919 - 2010).
La Strada (English: The Road) (1954) is an Italian Academy Award winning film, directed by Federico Fellini. The movie is a drama about a naive young girl (played by Fellini's wife, Giulietta Masina) who is sold to a brutish man (Anthony Quinn) in a coastal town in Italy.

Nino Rota (December 3, 1911 - April 10, 1979) was an Italian composer best known for his work on film scores, notably the films of Federico Fellini. He also composed the music for two of Franco Zeffirelli's Shakespeare films, and for Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather trilogy.

Great movie. Great actress...Giulietta Masina !

Nino Roti's score is just superb, inspiring sensitivity to the scenes.

It is art the old fashion way...Italian, Fellini style.

Films like this ( and "Nights of Cabiria" ) rarely come around anymore.

I am glad I saw them when I was a young man.

They rarely came around in that period as well. Don't take me wrong, I love this movie. But I can tell you a lot of movies like this made in the last ten years.
