Bursitis is the inflammation of a bursa

Olecranon bursitis that is caused by an injury will usually go away on its own. The body will absorb the blood in the bursa over several weeks, and the bursa should return to normal. If swelling in the bursa is causing a slow recovery, a needle may be inserted to drain the blood and speed up the process. There is a slight risk of infection in putting a needle into the bursa.

  • nice. . .

  • Is it safe to do it yourself? I want to, but I'm worried it will cause infection or something. I am dying to just jab it like you did...is it really OK?

  • had mine drained 3 times now the doc filled it with some stuff and now its swollen full of crap again wth is going on

  • @jr9595 So your elbow totally healed it does not pop out at all? How long did it take for your elbow to return back to normal? For me its been a week and swelling has gone down but elbow still looks like a golf ball and hurt when I lean it on a table. I also play football and pad it up but its annoying wearing it.

  • eeek

  • som66 u most definitly dont have the swelling now and sorry it took me for ever to write back....mine went away in about a week but then popped back up outta no where, but once u get it its always gonna effect u in different ways...like imma mma fight but now i cant do elbow strikes wit my right arm kinda sucks jus be carefull with the shit u do to ur elbow cuzz it can and will pop back up

  • @MrSmil3z man i think i got this today. was wondering for da whole day that there's sumthing wrong with my elbow . couldn't type write or play basketball, finally checked in the evening there was a bump & some real red swelling on the elbow cap. seeing the doc 2morrow. How long does it take to get back it to normal coz itz getting so fucking annoying???

  • I have that I might have to do the same thing becuase the last time i got it on my knee

and I owe the hospitall TONZ of money(insurance-less) :/ but i mean whatever right?

  • Just had that done yesterday. Really no big deal. They numb your elbow then put a tiny needle in there. You don't feel it. They drained mine out into a hypodermic syringe, like a blood transfusion in reverse. Atferwards it felt SOOO much better! For the first night in two weeks I slept without pain waking me up.

My elbow got carved up doing construction work. Cut it down to the bone. Stitches fix the skin but not the torn bursa. Ouch! But it's much better now. "Don't fear the needle!"

  • fauk i just found out i got this... going to the doctor this week. BUT MAN HARDCORE!!!
