Why is it called 'hostel' instead of hotel?

Stayed there in April of 2007. I plan on going back and staying there again in April of 2008. Staff is great, place is very clean. Cheap beer at 120yen a can in the lobby is nice too.

I was in the Sakura Hostel!!!!!
I love this place, just very expansive the internat, and no very nice breakfast, anyway I missed so much this place!!!
