In this video I am playing with a Multi computer/Monitor setup with one mouse and keyboard. This is all done with a free program called Synergy. I set my old XPpro machine to share the keyboard and mouse with my windows 7 machine.

Note: Synergy does not do sound. I threaded the sound cable from the Dell to the sound input jack on the XPpro machine, and from there a sub woofer is hooked up normally to the XP pro machine. Basically sound mixing is done inside of XPpro (which I couldn't do for some reason in vista or windows 7).

Computer one (the host):
Brand: Custom built PC
CPU: Pentium III @ 850mhz
RAM: 768mb
GPU: Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 with 256mb
OS: Windows XPpro SP3

Computer two (Client):
Brand: Dell Optiplex GX520
CPU: Celeron D @ 2.66ghz
RAM: 2gb
GPU: Intel 82945G Express Chipset Family with 256mb
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 beta (Build 7000)

if anyone is interested in Synergy here is the link to it

  • Can you drag and drop open programs from one computer monitor to the other? Like move AIM from the Main computer to the secondary?

  • @AzureHoBo No as that was two different computers... Each monitor was a different computer, they were linked together with Synergy so I just used one keyboard and mouse on both computers.

  • Whoa I just read the description, that's two different computers? I don't know how that's even possible but it is awesome.

  • yup, you can do this with any two computers... even a laptop... originally when someone put me on to this program, I paired my Powerbook and my PIII machine, but at the time I didnt like that and I was more looking for something to control my PIII machine from a far and put the monitor readout on my Powerbook, not share the keyboards. (I used UltraVNC and the mac client that I forgot the name of, haha). I only started using this recently when I wanted to use the my dell more with my PIII machine

  • xp noir is the god of all xp themes

  • haha yes, the only thing better then XP Noir is the hacked one I installed which completed and fixed some issues with XP Noir, as XP Noir was a incomplete theme...

I had to hack my copy of XP to install unsigned themes though...
