A sip of Milk Wood - this is just a taste of the 95 page poem/play for voices by Dylan Thomas.

  • This is pretty bad. Thomas is cringing in his weedy crypt.

  • I didn't think it too bad. Richard Burton's is the yardstick, of course. He does seem more interested in creating a "dynamic" delivery than using the actual words to create the flow.

Oh, lord! As I was writing that, he started wearing the masks. Now I am the one dumbfounded...

  • Oh dear... what a sorry load of bollocks. No understanding of the lyrical beauty of the piece and a shallow understanding of the text. The inane costume and inappropriate makeup only detract from what is already very poor fare. When he reached the part about Miss Price and Mog Edwards I wanted to rip out his larynx - it's an affront to Thomas's legacy. Americans should stick to texts written by them and for them - they make a painful spectacle of anything else.

  • Really fantastic.

    Lovely voice

and I really like the striking costume idea.

I'm in a production of this for my A levels.

  • deeply wonderful =]
