War Memorial Auditorium, Rochester, August 30, 1967 - The 1st song.
1. Substitute 2. Pictures Of Lily 3. Summertime Blues 4. Barbara Ann 5. Boris The Spider 6. A Quick One While He's Away 7. Happy Jack 8. I'm A Boy 9. My Generation
This was a remarkable time in history,.... the youth revolted against the same Government that pre invented them in the first place to deliver the beginning of the end' create enough hate and all good things come to an end. 44yrs later look where we are now, Rodger wears a wig and Pete's a nonce..... Thus the argument that no one really led the way, its just a load of tosh at the end of the day''
Well, I missed that concert. I was 16 then and my band was playing "Substitute" at various venues in Webster, Penfield, Fairport and Sodus. Oh, we played Hermans Hermit's "Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter" and "Henry the VIII," too.
What can I say, I was 14 years old and I'm 57 now! I remember being there, and Herman's Hermit's was definitely the top bill. That's crazy.
I saw some other good shows at the War memorial including Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention in 1966 , the Yardbirds with Jimmy Page In Dec 66 ( I have the ticket stub and it was only $2.50) and Jimi Hendrix in March 1968. I have the Times Union and Democrat & Chronicle clippings for that show. Also saw the Doors and Joplin at the Eastman.
I can't freakin' believe it!! Where did this come from?? I was at this concert in Rochester in 1967 when I was 14 years old. The Who opened for Herman's Hermits. Amazing. 43 years ago. Holy Shit!!
Haha this is the best Who I have ever heard!! Love this!! Just the way they oughta be heard. In Rochester to boot, Thanks man! Wonder if they palyed TO at the same time??
saw the Who..live... on Isle of Wight festival 1969 and i think it was with me lying on grass...with cannabis smoke all over....and it sounded like this .......so goood
